Capsule Wardrobe Series: Always On-The-Go

Introducing the next capsule wardrobe that is most like our founder, Amber's wardrobe. This capsule seems to be a popular pick among moms, business owners, students, and truly anyone with a packed schedule. The two main focuses of an ‘Always On-The-Go’ capsule are (1) comfort and (2) high functionality. Any healthy always on-the-go person, though, has their off days. That is what creates a distinct spectrum for this capsule. The capsule really has athleisure on one end and businesswoman on the other. The key is to find a meeting point in the middle which helps create the balance of athleisure looks that don't look sloppy, and, in contrast, polished business looks that are still both comfortable and effortless. Think: yoga to the office, pilates to brunch with a client, 4 pm team meeting to a 7 pm soccer game.

In our capsule series, we always like to give a reference for the wardrobe we are discussing. For this edition, the best celebrity we can tie back to this capsule wardrobe for reference would be none other than Kim Kardashian. She's a passionate business owner, a fitness guru, and a mom who is always on to the next thing. Her lifestyle requires her to be comfortable, yet put-together, and always ready to carry her kids on the way to her next business meeting.

Hands free bag

THE HANDS-FREE BAG

Your hands are too full with a latte, a baby, or a phone. So, if you're even carrying a bag at all, (because let's be real, you've already got everything you need on your phone or in your car) you need a crossbody.

Comfy Sneakers

A COMFY SNEAKER

Because you can wear them with your pilates or business meeting looks. You can't afford to have an uncomfortable wardrobe slowing you down or keeping you still. Opt for the comfy shoe. Golden Goose is perfect because they already have that lived-in look. A busy girl is focused on other things beyond keeping a snow white sneaker clean and bright.

Quality Leggings

QUALITY LEGGINGS

Bandier makes some of the best leggings that you can not only wear to a workout but also with your favorite oversized turtleneck.

Quality Hoodie

FAV HOODIE

Simply a must-have. For your airport outfit, pair it with an oversized blazer, or to throw it over your sports bra for your bodega run. The options are endless and oh-so sporty-chic.

Oversized blazer

OVERSIZED BLAZER

If you need to dress it up, try a blazer. It has the power to dress up a simple white tee, a graphic tee, a sports bra, a hoodie. Need we say more?

Trousers

TROUSERS

Trousers don't have to be uncomfortable and stiff. Velvet's Leona05 trouser is proof of that with its stretchy fabric. Good American, Khloe Kardashian's brand, (we promise this isn't meant to be a blog all on the Kardashians;) ) has one of the best fabrics called “scuba” that they're creating blazers, trousers, and bodysuits with.

BODYSUITS

Speaking of bodysuits, that would be the next staple to this capsule. Talk about a no-fuss top. It stays put and it's comfortable. Good American makes some of the best. We love their modern bodysuit.

Skims bodycon dress

NEUTRAL BODY-CON DRESS

It is no coincidence that our celebrity pick for this capsule founded Skims, a company with so many great staples for this type of capsule wardrobe, including this body-con maxi.

Narrowing down your wardrobe to these key items takes the stress away and adds a new simplicity to getting dressed and your style will show consistency. This on-the-go style is one that shapes your wardrobe around your lifestyle. Try incorporating this capsule-like mindset when cleaning out your closet and on your next shopping spree. Here at Jackie, our stylists value these principles when guiding you to the pieces that will remain timeless. If you connect with this blog, and you’d like your stylist to focus on this when she’s curating your boxes, she’ll begin to build your wardrobe this way.
