10 Styling Tips to Make You Look Younger (But Not Too Young)
Youth is such a beautiful and fleeting concept. It is something that we all take for granted while we have it and wish it back as we age. While we support and endorse aging with grace, we aren’t opposed to doing what we can to put our best foot forward to exude a youthful glow. Skincare and styling are two of the ways that we like to focus on embracing youth and aging. Keep reading for Jackie approved styling tips to help you look younger, without looking too young.
The 10 Tips...
1. Wear The Right Bra
You don’t know how much of a difference this makes until you experience it for yourself. Wearing a bra that doesn’t fit properly can add years to your age or have the adverse effect if your bra straps are peeking out from underneath. Consider visiting your local Nordstrom for a free bra fitting to ensure that you are wearing the perfect fit.
2. Add Some Height
Adding an excellent pair of heels to your wardrobe is a must. Show off those legs of yours! Find pieces that flatter your figure and add some heels to add length to your legs and a pep to your step. You don’t have to opt for high heels. Even a small block heel can do wonders for your legs.
3. Wear Makeup Minimally
Your skin is beautiful, so show it off. While makeup can help combat fine lines and wrinkles, too much makeup can emphasize the imperfections. At Jackie, we encourage you to embrace the skin you are in. Avoid trying to cover up every little imperfection. Add touches of color to your complexion with a cream blush, a rich lip color and some mascara, but don’t feel like you have to go all out with your makeup every day. Sometimes less is more.
4. Wear Jeans that Fit!
This seems like a no brainer, but avoid the urge to wear denim that is either too big or even worse, too small. Well fitted denim can revolutionize your wardrobe. If you don’t often wear denim because you find it uncomfortable, consider finding a fit with a touch of elastic for added comfort. It’s not worth having nice jeans that you never wear. Invest in jeans that you love putting on.
5. Say Yes to Color
It can be easy to fall into the habit of wearing neutrals on rotation and never adding much color to your look. We are all guilty of this, but adding some color to your wardrobe can give you that youthful glow that others are bound to notice. Who doesn’t want that?
6. Invest in Your Blouses
It isn’t difficult to tell the difference between high quality blouses and tops that were found on the sale rack; a harsh but true reality. To keep your look youthful, consider investing in button downs that are built to last with patterns that are as elegant as you are!
7. Keep Things Tailored
Having well-fitted clothing is one of the easiest ways to exude confidence and ensure that you look your best. Don’t pass up an opportunity to tailor your clothing that doesn’t fit how you’d like. Life is too short to wear poorly fitted clothes!
8. Wear Less Black
Black might be your go to color, but consider some pale neutrals that brighten your complexion. Try peach, nude, white and other pastels. You don’t have to flaunt bold, primary colors, but challenge yourself to step outside your comfort zone consisting of all things black.
9. Flaunt Your Best Features
Don’t be afraid to show some skin! If you have excellent calves, rock a shorter hemline to flaunt what you’ve got! If you love your shoulders, invest in some cold-shoulder tops and fitted tee’s. There is no reason to cover up every inch of you. Be proud of your best features and show them off.
10. Try Some Statements
Accessorizing never goes out of style. Bring out your vintage clutches, your favorite patterned blazer and your colorful neck scarves. Keeping up with the trends doesn’t have to stop as you age. Bring the trends with you from decade to decade.
