5 Styling Mistakes You are Making (& How to Fix Them)

You Don't Have a Tailor

One of the biggest styling mistakes that can ruin your look, is pants that aren't sized properly. Refuse to wear jeans that are too long or too baggy. It's such an easy fix to find a pair of denim that hugs your curves exactly as they should. If you struggle with finding the perfect fit, befriend a tailor and have your pants custom fit to flatter your figure. Life is too short for big pants!

You Over Accessorize

Accessorizing is good; we love it! Statement pieces are an absolute must have, but it can be easy to get carried away. If you want to flaunt your new cheetah print boots, lay off the striped top and avoid a chunky necklace. Accessorizing is an art. Get some practice and you'll be off to the races. If you find yourself falling into the over accessorizing category, channel your inner minimalist and try some subtle accessorizing trends to avoid adding too much to your look. When it doubt, keep it simple.

You Wear Oversized Clothes

This is a trend that so many women fall into; understandably so. There are times when we don't feel confident in our own skin, so we pile on the layers and buy our clothing a few sizes too big. If you fall into this category, push yourself to try a more slimming and fitted look. It might feel awkward at first, but flattering your figure is an art that you will love mastering. If you don't know where to begin, contact your Jackie stylist to find the perfect fit!

Your Bra Game is Not on Point

Here's a little tip; if your bra is showing, chances are you've picked the wrong bra. Occasionally, showing a little lace can be a classy, sexy touch; but if your bra straps are hanging out for the world to see, consider a different bra for the day. With warmer weather coming, a strapless bra is a must have! They are perfect for rocking your favorite tank top, strapless dress, or cold shoulder top. In addition, invest in a reusable pair of petals to get you through the warmer months. Keep your trusty t-shirt bra on hand for dresses, and blouses with more coverage.

You Pick the Wrong Shoes

There are certain looks that require a very particular type of shoe. For example, if you're rocking a pair of wide leg pants, you might want to consider a heel to give your figure the lift it needs for an added slimming effect. If your hemline hits above the knee, consider a flat of some kind; a loafer, an excellent pair mules, or some oxfords. If your hemline is below the knee, go crazy. Bring out the platforms, the stilettos and the block heels. If you like experimenting with statement shoes, try a cropped pair of slim fitting denim to compliment your footwear. Shoe choice can make or break an outfit, so choose carefully!
