Capsule Wardrobe Series: Feminine Focused

No better month than this month of February for flowers, frills, feelings, and all things feminine to roll out this next capsule: The Feminine Focused Capsule. No matter the trends of the time or the latest and greatest brands, there’s always something available for the feminine girly. Similar to the “clean girl” aesthetic that we highlighted last month, the feminine wardrobe style seems to infiltrate into the rest of her life, really becoming a lifestyle.

A perfect example of this is would be none other than Julia Berolzheimer. She’s a mom of 2, wife, and Co-Founder of the brand Parterre. In fact, Julia believes that “aesthetics have the ability to enrich our lives”.

From her clothes to her home, Julia embodies the purest form of femininity. So, she’s worth studying in the context of this type of capsule wardrobe. Let’s get started (& shopping) so that you can achieve the look.

A FLORAL DRESS

The most obvious one. You knew this was going to make the list. As predictable as it is, there’s a reason why it’s a cliche ;). Some brands dedicate their whole collection to featuring nothing but dreamy dresses. A few brands that do floral dresses and prints really well are Ulla Johnson, Zimmerman, and Dôen

A-LINE SKIRT

It’s givinggg “princess”

Just kidding - let’s not get cheesy now. Whether it’s midi or mini, an A-line accentuates the waist.

COLLECT THE COLORS

No matter the season, a feminine capsule always has a seasonally appropriate piece in color; from a colorful trench to a colorful swim-suit.

PUFF SLEEVES

It’s all in the details. An easy way to take a basic top and add a dash of femininity is to focus on the details. So, instead of shopping for just basic plain white tees, try to add basic pieces with a touch of “something”. This could be eyelet embroidery, a Peter Pan collar, lace lining, or, our favorite: a puff sleeve. Nation LTD is known for their tasteful puff detailing on most pieces.

POINTED-TOE SHOE

Trying to find the perfect pointed toe shoe? Look no further. Manolo Blahnik has perfected the style. That’s what Julia has on here. They seem to come in any color your heart could desire.

SOMETHING SILKY

In the last photos, Julia paired her Manolos with a silky coffin dress. That brings us to our next category: silks. It’s a classic fabric that stands the test of time. Add your favorite accessories. We’re loving the chunky brown suede heel here as a styling option.

CHUNKY BELT

Let’s be specific, a straw woven or linen textured belt. We like pairing with fuller dresses or skirts to define the waist a bit more.

CARDIGAN

If you get one thing from this blog, let it be this. The cardigan is a must-have. It’s the layering piece you didn’t know you needed. Daintier than a blazer, the cardigan can be your pop of color, a warm functional layer, and a wow piece to your outfit.  Pair it with dresses and skirts, or trousers and jeans.

SQUARE NECKLINE

I saved the best for last. When you’re shopping, look for a square neckline. A good stylist knows that you need to do more than just look at colors and textures. You also have to look at necklines, which a lot of people are picky about. A square one is sure to accentuate the décolletage.

If we’ve introduced you to Julia for the first time through this blog, we hope you now enjoy her aesthetic as much as we have over the years. You should visit her website to read other really informative blogs, like on interior design tips & tricks.

Try incorporating this capsule-like mindset the next time you clean out your closet and let us help you fill in the gaps afterwards. Here at Jackie, our stylists value these principles when guiding you to the pieces that will remain timeless. If you connect with this blog, and you’d like your stylist to focus on this when she’s curating your boxes, she’ll begin to build your wardrobe this way.
