5 Closet Swaps to Make for Fall 2022

With the fall season fast approaching we want to equip you with everything you need to know about the trends that are coming with it. Our stylists here at Jackie are keeping a close eye on the current styles to see what you should be wearing.  We’ve narrowed it down to 5 major swaps to make in your wardrobe that will have you looking refreshed and ready for fall 2022.

Our first swap comes straight from social media: The Suede Birkenstock Boston Clog. If you are at all on Instagram or TikTok then you’ve seen this shoe rising in popularity as it reflects the ever-so-popular neutral trend. In colder states, they’re paired with socks to not only sport in fall but to carry through winter as well. This flat, cabin-esque shoe highly contrasts its predecessor from last fall: the bold saturated heel.

Does this make anyone else hungry for something sweet? Although fairly similar, caramel definitely stands out from chocolate as being a softer, more palatable, and buildable color. Our favorite bonus, it looks good on everybody! You’ll see this color a lot this fall in the form of full matching pant and top sets to create a monochrome look.

We know what you’re thinking…silk over fur in a colder season? Well, silk will have its moment for the last stretch of warmer weather before the temps hit 40 and below in some states. Runways across the U.S. have been featuring this fabric a lot lately, highlighting its beautiful, effortless movement and sheen. Of course, it pairs nicely with most layering pieces from a leather jacket, to a feminine knit cardigan, and is adaptable for every season.

There’s always a big theme tribute for each season and this fall is no different. Apres Ski took the runways by storm in 2021 featuring patterned sweaters, fur boots, and puffer jackets. This year, however, is all things equestrian. If you enjoyed the coastal grandmother trend this summer, you’ll love this. Equestrianism has undertones of the beloved summer look, spinning neutral colors and fabrics to fit the fall season. The trend takes root in pieces like knee-high boots, chic stirrup leggings, button-downs, and turtlenecks with an overall old-money posture. It’s definitely a theme cut out for the woman with a taste for timelessness and sophistication.

Every season brings a new statement accessory. This fall, think shiny, eye-catching, and reflective. Keeping with the micro bag trend and the once again rising popularity of metallics, you’ll see payettes, metallic fabric, and sparkles reworking this beloved arm piece. These bags are going to turn heads, contrast the neutrals, and add an exciting touch to fall/winter fashion. To keep from doing too much at once, we’d suggest setting aside your logo jewelry, which, as we know, had its moment last fall.

Don't be surprised if you see some repeats as you familiarize yourself with this year's fall trends. The truth is, in any season, runways and celebrities pave the way for trends as we know them. So, you may notice a trend transcending multiple years as it trickles down to the everyday fashion consumer. If you’re looking to build your wardrobe even more based on these and many more seasonal trends apply to Jackie and learn how to incorporate them into your personal style.
